What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are natural compounds found in the Cannabis Sativa plant that interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system. The most well-known is CBD (cannabidiol), but the plant produces over 100 distinct phytocannabinoids including CBG, CBN, CBC, and many others. Each has unique properties and potential applications across wellness, pharmaceutical, food supplement and cosmetic industries.

Cannabinoid isolates are pure compounds extracted from hemp, completely free from other plant components such as terpenes and flavonoids. They offer precise formulation capabilities and are highly versatile across industries. Distillates are highly refined hemp extracts that concentrate cannabinoids while retaining some natural terpenes and other beneficial compounds. Unlike isolates (a single pure compound), distillates offer a richer cannabinoid profile. Brownrock offers CBD Distillates in semi-spectrum, full-spectrum and golden broad-spectrum variants, plus CBG, CBG-CBD non-crystallizing, CBN and CBN non-crystallizing distillates.

Full spectrum retains all naturally occurring cannabinoids, terpenes and trace plant compounds including THC below EU legal limits. Broad spectrum removes THC while keeping other cannabinoids and terpenes. Semi-spectrum is a partially refined extract between crude and full-spectrum. The right choice depends on your target market and regulatory requirements.
